Canon has released even more firmware updates for two more of its professional cameras and the list now includes both the EOS 1D X and the EOS 1D Mark III.
Less than 24 hours ago, Canon has updated the EOS 1D Mark IV and the EOS 1Ds Mark III. Both cameras have gained compatibility with the new EF 200-400mm f/4L USM Extender 1.4x lens, in order to allow their center AF point to autofocus when using these combinations.
The Canon 1D Mark IV did have one of its bugs fixed, but 1Ds Mark III users who do not have an EF 200-400mm optic could stay away from the firmware update.
Canon 1D Mark III firmware update 1.3.1 adds EF 200-400mm f/4L support
Another camera which gains EF 200-400mm f/4L support is the Canon 1D Mark III. The Japan-based company has announced that this is the single change over the previous version.
The firmware update 1.3.1 for the EOS 1D Mark III is available for download at the manufacturer’s official website
Canon 1D X firmware update 1.2.4 improves autofocus speed when using Speedlite AF assist beam and fixes bugs
On the other hand, the Canon 1D X firmware update 1.2.4 comes packed with plenty of bug fixes. Several problems have been affecting photographers, but they have been fixed and the upgrade should enhance the user experience.
Canon says that the autofocus speed has been improved when using a Speedlite AF assist light. This has been one of the biggest problems and the company has received a lot of complaints regarding it.
Moreover, the camera will show metering results a lot faster than before on both the LCD and viewfinder, depending on where the photographers wants to see them.
Firmware update 1.2.4 also fixes a bug that displayed a “Caution 02” error message in the status log even though there were no problems.
Continuous shooting will no longer come to an abrupt end when using the Speedlite AF assist beam, while GPS settings will not be reset when shutting down the camera with a Canon GP-E1 module attached to it.

Photographers can download the latest firmware at the product’s official support page regardless of their operating system.
For those of you who would like to buy the camera, the Canon 1D X is available for purchase at Amazon for a price of $6,799.
