Nikon has finally launched the 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 lens, which represents the fastest optic ever released for the “1” range or mirrorless cameras.
Nikon has been teasing a prime lens for mirrorless cameras users who enjoy taking portrait photos since October 2012. However, the 32mm glass has not been officially announced until now, when it has finally shed the prototype status, being declared ready for prime time.
Nikon expands Nikkor 1 System lineup with 32mm f/1.2 prime lens
The mirrorless segment is relatively young in the camera industry, therefore consumers need convincing before investing in a new system. In order to get the attraction of the customers, Nikon needs to provide more lenses and this is what the company is currently doing.
The Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras will be graced by the presence of this fixed focal length medium-telephoto lens, which provides a 35mm equivalent of 86mm.
Additionally, its aperture is not so fast when considering the 35mm status. From f/1.2, the aperture will slow down to f/3.2, which is still quite good for taking portrait images.
Nikon 32mm f/1.2 lens has been designed for portrait photography
The ever-increasing 1 Nikkor lens offering will now include an “accurate” optic, which provides impressive blur and bokeh effects, which are key features to consider in portrait photography.
Nikon says that the 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2 lens is the first of its kind to include a Silent Wave Motor, Nano Crystal Coat, and a manual focus ring, which allows photographers to switch between auto and manual focus.
As stated above, this may prove to be crucial for mirrorless adopters, who have yet to benefit from such a powerful and fast 1 Nikkor optic.
