Polaroid continues its brand tradition with a brand new action camera capable of recording full HD movies, the XS80.
Polaroid is a long way from the level of success achieved decades ago, but this company is not giving up. In the past few years, it has been focusing on tablets and action cameras, and it seems like the latter lineup is about to get a new product.
Polaroid introduces XS80 action camera with full HD video recording
More and more people are turning to extreme adventures that make their hearts go wild. However, these escapades must be recorded somehow and the GoPro Hero cameras may be too expensive or maybe Polaroid has something better to offer.
Well, the offer has just got a little better with the help of the Polaroid XS80 mountable hi-definition action camera. This new device can be mounted on a helmet and it can be easily used as a shooter which records 1920 x 1080 resolution videos at 30 frames per second.
Polaroid XS80 is waterproof and rugged, thus perfect for extreme adventures
Polaroid says that the XS80 is the perfect companion for action sports, such as surfing, climbing, and biking. It is a rugged and waterproof (down to 30 feet) device, which captures high-quality videos and images in all conditions and environments.
The Polaroid XS80 can record 720p and VGA videos, too, as not all people want to fill up their microSD card space so quickly or maybe they cannot afford to buy one with bigger storage. Speaking of which, the device supports microSD cards of up to 32GB.
An action camera which can also capture high-quality photos
This camcorder can also take stills. It is packing a 16-megapixel image sensor and is capable of capturing photos at 16MP, 5MP, and 3MP. There are three modes available, including single, burst shot, and time lapse.
Additionally, it is packing Anti-Shake technology to keep the sensor steady when immortalizing your extreme outings. It is worth noting that the camera is also shockproof, so users will not have to worry about dropping it.
Decent battery life provided by a Li-ion accumulator
Polaroid has added a G sensor with Auto Rotation support, that will make sure that the XS80 will know “which end is up” at all times.
Other notable features include a HDMI port, which is helpful for reviewing your photos and videos on a compatible HDTV. Power comes from a Li-ion battery, which should provide enough juice to last for several hours of recordings.
Polaroid XS80 availability and price information
The Polaroid XS80 release date is today, while its price stands at $129.99 at select retailers and at the manufacturer’s official store.
The company is offering a helmet mount at no extra charge and a one-year warranty.
