Panasonic GH3 and G5 firmware updates have been released for download in order to repair some bugs troubling the users.
Panasonic and other camera manufacturers are relentless in releasing firmware updates for their products. Such actions are necessary as some problems with the devices might slip past the testing. The latest update concerns Lumix DMC-G5 and GH3 users, who can download a new firmware version right now.
New Panasonic GH3 and G5 firmware updates released for download
Panasonic GH3 and G5 changelogs are not identical, despite the fact that they have been released at the same time. Apparently, the one for the G5 is very scarce and it only concerns lensmen using the PAL broadcasting standard. The AVCHD frame rate wording used to say “60p/60i/30p” and it has been corrected to display “50p/50i/25p”.
Panasonic GH3 users get Low Light AF and Silent Mode support
On the other hand, the update for the GH3 consists of more bullet points. The first refers to adding Low Light AF support, which is useful in poorly-lit environments.
The next change adds the new Silent Mode, which makes the camera’s operations more quiet. The electronic shutter and the shutter sounds are both reduced, the flash is set to a minimum, while other operation noises are turned down.
A new Exposure Comp. Reset option has been added, too. When turned on, the camera will automatically reset exposure compensation to “0” if the user changes the shooting mode or turns off the camera.
Moreover, photographers will no longer encounter any issues when connecting to Apple Mac OS X PCs through WiFi.
Last but not least, autofocus speeds have been improved when using the H-PS14042 and H-PS45175 lenses. The former consists of the Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH Power O.I.S
