Polaroid has announced an instant digital camera called Snap at the IFA Berlin 2015 show, which consists of a compact and lightweight device that prints photos without ink.
For the past couple of years, Polaroid has been making attempts to get back into the imaging market. The company is trying its hand at digital photography with products such as the Cube. The latest digital imaging product to be unveiled by the legendary camera maker is called Snap and it was introduced at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany.
The brand new Polaroid Snap is a digital camera, but it has been designed with classic instant photography in mind. The device captures digital images. However, it is capable of printing the shots and it does so without using ink. Here is what you need to know about it!
Polaroid introduces Snap, a digital camera with a 10MP sensor
Snap is classified as an instant digital camera. It comes in a compact form factor and it is lightweight, so it can be carried in your pocket. The device features a 10-megapixel sensor and offers a microSD card slot of up to 32GB.
The camera employs a self-timer along with a photo booth mode that will be able to capture six photos in only 10 seconds. As for photography, the Snap offers three modes, such as black and white, color, and Polaroid Vintage, the latter giving that classic Polaroid feeling.
Photographers can frame their images through an integrated pop-up viewfinder. The specs list includes a tripod mount as well as a USB port for recharging its battery.
Polaroid Snap can instantly print photos using Zero Ink technology
While the photos can be transferred to a PC for later use, photographers can choose to print them instantly. Polaroid Snap comes with a built-in printer that prints images instantly without using ink.
The technology is called ZINK and it has been around for a number of years. Zero Ink printing can print color photos and the Snap uses 2 x 3-inch sheets. Moreover, you can continue shooting while the printer is printing an image.
Remember the Polaroid Classic Border Logo? Well, Snap supports this mode, so you can add that border to your shots. You can add the border, choose the Vintage look, and your photos will look like they were captured with a classic Polaroid camera.
Polaroid Snap will be released during the fourth quarter of the year in black, blue, red, and white colors for a price of $99.
