Canon has officially unveiled the PowerShot SX620 HS compact camera with a 25x optical zoom lens and a 20.2-megapixel image sensor.
While people are still waiting for a successor to the PowerShot SX60 HS, Canon has introduced the PowerShot SX620 HS as a direct replacement to the PowerShot SX610 HS. The former model was launched at CES 2015, so it was about time to be axed in favor of a newer version.
Canon PowerShot SX620 HS is here with a 25x optical zoom lens along with a 20.2-megapixel 1/2.3-inch-type image sensor. This is a fixed-lens camera designed for travel photographers and is quite compact and lightweight, therefore it will be ideal for your summer vacation.
The perfect travel companion: Canon PowerShot SX620 HS
There are not too many differences between the SX620 and the SX610. This is a minor, but welcomed, as always, refresh that is aiming to become your travel companion. In order to do so, it announces itself as an easy-to-carry device with powerful imaging capabilities.
The Japan-based manufacturer has added a 20.2MP sensor and 25x zoom lens into the compact camera, as stated above. The latter will offer a full-frame focal length equivalent of 25-625mm, meaning that it will be useful for various photography types.
Users will be able to capture architecture, street, portrait, sports, and bird photos with a single camera. That makes a difference for a lot of people, who will also get to enjoy a 3-inch display with a 922K-dot resolution.
In order to provide a little help to photographers, the camera comes packed with an Intelligent Image Stabilizer. This technology will make sure that camera shakes will not result in blurry photos.
Additionally, there is an Auto Zoom tool that is capable of zooming in on your subjects to make sure that they will remain in focus. A Smart Auto mode is also present and it automatically chooses the exposure settings.

The compact camera is powered by a DIGIC 4+ image processor, allowing users to record up to 2.5fps in continuous shooting mode. If you capture many photos, then you can empty your SD card quickly, as the device features built-in WiFi and NFC capabilities.
Canon PowerShot SX620 HS offers the following exposure settings: 1/2000-15 seconds shutter speed range, 80-3200 ISO sensitivity, and f/3.2-6.6 maximum aperture. Its battery provides an autonomy of up to 295 shots on a single charge.
Users will be able to shoot videos at up to full HD resolution with this camera. The device weighs approximately 182 grams / 0.40 lbs and measures 97 x 57 x 28mm / 3.81 x 2.24 x 1.1 inches.
The Japanese company will release the SX620 by the end of May 2015 for a price of $279.99.
