The Canon PowerShot SX280 HS is preparing to make an official appearance in the near future, as its specs have been unearthed by an inside source.
Canon is going to keep itself very busy in the coming weeks. First of all, the Japan-based company will launch its smallest and lightest DSLR camera ever. Its specs, photos, and names have already been unofficially leaked on the web.
It appears that the EOS-b / EOS Kiss X7 will feature an 18MP CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 processing engine. The camera is rumored to be released sometime in May for a price around $800, as the shooter is already available for pre-order at Best Buy.
Canon PowerShot SX280 HS specs sheet leaked
Just like in the EOS-b case, the Canon PowerShot SX280 HS has not been officially announced yet. However, some of its specifications have surfaced online. The upcoming PowerShot camera is said to feature 20x optical zoom, built-in WiFi, 1080p full HD video capturing, and a DIGIC 6 image processor.
The source which unearthed the information said that this could be a “typo”, meaning that Canon might not reveal a new processing engine for its next-generation digital imaging products.
A lot of people agree that it would be very surprising for Canon to announce the DIGIC 6 engine with the help of a PowerShot camera, as its capabilities should be demonstrated on a full-sized DSLR.
PowerShot SX280 HS announcement happening later this week
Anyway, the list containing the specs of the Canon PowerShot SX280 HS looks very promising. A source familiar with the matter has confirmed that photography fans will get a glimpse of the new camera sometime by the end of the week.
Canon may choose to reveal both the EOS-b and PowerShot SX280 HS cameras during the same event. The company has a habit of doing such a thing, therefore the side-by-side announcement of these two cameras would not come as a surprise.
If the rumor mill is right, then we will find out all the information by the end of this week.
