Several Hasselblad Stellar photos have been leaked on the web, along with release date and price details regarding the camera based on the Sony RX100.
It has been less than a month since it has been discovered that Hasselblad is hiring people to work on a couple of compact cameras and a DSLR. All three shooters are supposed to be released by the end of 2013 and one of them has just been leaked.
Plenty of Hasselblad Stellar photos show up online
The company has decided to keep going with the space-related names, as the Sony RX100-based camera will be referred to as Hasselblad Stellar. For those who are unaware, the Sony NEX-7-based shooter is called Lunar, so Stellar is a logical and, dare we say, inspired choice.
Either way, the Hasselblad Stellar photos are revealing pretty much everything we wanted to know. The manufacturer has chosen different materials for both the casing and the grip, when compared to the original RX100.
At least six Hasselblad Stellar grips will be available with prices higher than $1,600
There will be six versions available for the grip, that is Olive, Mahogany, Wenge, Walnut, and Padouk wood, as well as carbon fiber. Most likely, the grip will be one of the biggest factors in determining the final price of the device.
Speaking of which, sources are reporting that the Hasselblad Stellar announcement date is July 26, while its release date is August or September 2013 for prices ranging between $1,600 and $3,200.
Hasselblad Stellar leather strap and carrying box leaked, too
The “full version” will come packed with a leather strap and a carrying / storing box. The company is well-known for releasing such accessories, as pricey objects must be kept in expensive containers.
A photo of the leather strap and the Hasselblad Stellar’s box has also appeared on the web, meaning that there are little secrets left to unravel about the new camera. Either way, the official announcement is coming on July 26.
