Olympus is rumored to hold a proper official announcement for the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens sometime in the near future, after revealing it earlier in 2014.
In the middle of February 2014, Olympus unveiled two new lenses for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Although the pair’s photos and some details have been revealed, the unveiling has served only as an “announcement of develoment”.
Furthermore, the Japanese company has confirmed that the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO and the 300mm f/4 PRO lenses will be released on the market in 2015. However, an inside source is now claiming that the former is being prepared for its official introduction, which suggests that it may begin shipping within 2014.

Four Thirds version of the Olympus 7-14mm lens
Olympus has made a 7-14mm lens in the past. It is a Four Thirds version that comes with a constant maximum aperture of f/4. Although it is one f-stop slower than the upcoming Micro Four Thirds version, this lens is available for exactly $1,799 at Amazon – the same amount that will get you a 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO optic soon.
The Olympus 7-14mm f/4 lens comes with an Extra-Low Dispersion aspherical element and a weathersealed construction as well as a 35mm equivalent of 14-28mm.
