Fujifilm is allegedly working on a few new products, including the X-Pro2, X-E3, and X-M2 mirrorless cameras as well as on a bright, wide-angle pancake lens.
A bunch of details have been leaked on a Chinese forum, revealing the future plans of Fujifilm. It appears that several new products will be added to the X-mount system by the end of 2015, while more are coming in early 2016.
Among the rumored products we can find the X-Pro2, X-E3, X-M2, and a dual-mount camera, while a 20mm f/2.8 or 18mm f/2.8 pancake lens is coming, too.
Fujifilm X-Pro2 will not be released in Q1 2015
The Fuji X-Pro2 found its way into the rumor mill a long time ago and it seems like the flagship X-mount mirrorless camera will finally be announced in 2015. However, it is not coming during the first quarter of the year.
The source says that we will see “2 spec” of the X-Pro2. It is unclear what this means, but it is possible that the shooter will be released in two versions.
Fujifilm X-M2 is real and is coming sometime in late 2015 / early 2016
Recently, it has been speculated that Fuji will attempt to kill one of its entry-level cameras. The X-A2 has just become official, so some sources have hinted that the X-M1 will remain the only model of its kind.
According to the new leakster, the Fujifilm X-M2 is in development. Unfortunately, its exact release date is unknown for now, so it means that it will not become official sooner than late 2015 / early 2016.
Fujifilm X-E3 is in development, but it will be released in 2016
The Fujifilm X-E3 is also real. The problem is that some internal issues still need to be settled. This means that the mirrorless camera will not be launched very soon.
The source says that we should expect the X-E2 replacement to be launched sometime in 2016.
Dual-mount camera said to become official in mid-2015
Inside sources have recently claimed that Fujifilm is preparing to launch a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with a sensor bigger than APS-C. It has been said that the company has already released lenses that can cover bigger sensors.
Now, it is said that a dual-mount camera is rumored to be released sometime in mid-2015. Nevertheless, these two products may be entirely different, but it is becoming more clearly that the company will expand its horizons and will attempt to release unique products on the market.
Do not draw any conclusions regarding this subject. However, stay tuned to find out what this is all about!
Fujifilm XF 20mm f/2.8 or XF 18mm f/2.8 pancake lens will be revealed soon
At Photokina 2014, Fuji confirmed that its super telephoto zoom lens would consist of the XF 140-400mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS WR. This weathersealed lens is rumored to be launched sometime between October and December 2015.
Fujifilm is also working on the Mark II version of the XF 35mm f/1.4 lens. It will offer improved image quality, better bokeh, and faster focus speed than the XF 23mm f/1.4 R lens. It will offer a 35mm equivalent of about 53mm.
The already-confirmed XF 16mm f/1.4 R lens is allegedly on track to be released sometime this summer.
Finally, it seems like an XF 20mm f/2.8 or an XF 18mm f/2.8 lens will be announced soon. Both versions consist of bright, wide-angle pancake lenses, but only one of them will become available on the market.
What else to expect from Fuji?
Fujifilm is said to bring a new and improved Phase Detect autofocus system to its X-mount cameras. The leakster says that mirrorless cameras will be able to compete with DSLRs in terms of autofocus speed with the new technology.
A new flash will be announced soon. It is a high-speed flash aimed at professional photographers with an enhanced sync rate, which is one of the most sought-after features among X-mount users.
This is a long list of details. In the past, we have heard gossips about some of these products, but you should still take everything with a pinch of salt!
