Samyang has posted the first teaser hinting that the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens is close to becoming official with “immense focus and unparalleled features” in the near future.
One company that is constantly teasing its future products is Samyang. The South Korean manufacturer is always posting clever shots on its Facebook account before introducing a new product.
Recently, the rumor mill has said that the company will introduce a telephoto prime lens with a fast aperture and macro capabilities. It appears that the gossip talks will turn into a reality rather soon, as Samyang itself is teasing the 100mm f/2.8 macro lens on its official Facebook page.
Samyang 100mm f/2.8 macro lens teaser posted on Facebook
Samyang is promising to deliver an optic with “immense focus” as well as “unparalleled features”. A lot of people are hoping that the company will finally introduce a lens with autofocus support. However, the manufacturer has said multiple times that it will not make AF optics for now, so the teaser is most likely referring to the rumored telephoto macro lens.
The upcoming telephoto prime will feature a maximum aperture of f/2.8, so it should offer a very shallow depth of field when capturing your subjects. Nevertheless, photographers will have to remain careful, so that the subjects will not be out of focus.
Until the product becomes official, we should expect to see at least one more Samyang 100mm f/2.8 macro lens teaser. As for the teaser itself, it does not contain a lot of information, as it only has a “D-6” writing on it, while revealing a small part of the optic.
More details will most likely be revealed soon
The Samyang 100mm f/2.8 macro lens teaser was posted on March 27 and there are no further details about the meaning of the description and the photo writing.
“Immense focus and unparalleled features” could be a reference to the macro capabilities of the lens, as the product could have a small minimum focus distance, while making subjects appear equal or bigger than their life size dimensions.
On the other hand, the “D-6” could mean that there are six days left until its announcement or until the next teaser. As stated above, the first teaser was posted on March 27, so more information could be revealed on April 2 or April 3. Meanwhile, stay tuned for more!
