Panasonic will definitely introduce the Lumix G7 Micro Four Thirds camera this May, while Olympus will hold a proper launch event for the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens before the start of the Schau! digital imaging event in Berlin.
Europe will be the host of an important digital imaging event in late May. The show is called Schau! and it opens its doors on May 29 in Berlin, Germany.
The event’s schedule has been revealed and it is said to include new products from both Panasonic and Olympus.
According to the timetable, the 8mm f/1.8 PRO fisheye and 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO wide-angle zoom lens will be previewed along with a new Panasonic Lumix camera. The Olympus lenses are still waiting for their official launch event following the confirmation of their development. On the other hand, the only new Panasonic Lumix camera is the G7, which will replace the G6 soon.
Olympus poised to reveal 8mm f/1.8 and 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO-series lenses soon
Olympus confirmed the development of the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO-series lens
The lens will be compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras and will provide a 35mm focal length equivalent of about 14-28mm. For the time being, its price is unknown, but just like with PRO-series optics, it may turn out to be expensive.
The 8mm f/1.8 PRO lens had its development confirmed earlier in 2015. Olympus has told the masses that the product will also be released during summer 2015. We will most likely learn its release date, price, and specs prior to the Schau! event, along with the same details regarding the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO version.
Panasonic G7 set for a mid-May official announcement event
Panasonic put some of its Lumix-series on hold in 2014, but they are returning in 2015. The GF7 has been revealed earlier this year, the G7 is allegedly coming soon and the GX8 will be introduced in late summer or early fall.
The rumor mill has already said that the Panasonic G7 will be unveiled sometime in mid-May. Now, an official confirmation of some sort is available on the web. The Schau! 2015 agenda includes a new Panasonic Lumix camera which does not have a name. Taking this into account, the product in question is definitely the G7.
When it comes to the mirrorless camera’s specs list, it is worth noting that there will not be too many changes when compared to the G6’s feature sheet. It will all be revealed soon, so keep an eye on Camyx throughout this time!
