The rumor mill has shared new information about the Fujifilm X-T2, a mirrorless camera that will be announced this year before the start of the Photokina 2016 event.
Fujifilm has already unveiled the X-Pro2 in 2016, but the Japan-based company will introduce another high-profile X-mount mirrorless interchangeable lens camera by the end of this year.
On previous occasions, sources have mentioned X-T2 as the most likely candidate for the job. It seems like this is true and the device is on its way. Until its announcement date, which is still up for discussion, insiders have revealed some of its specifications.
New batch of Fujifilm X-T2 details appear online
The latest Fujifilm X-T2 details are telling us that the MILC will continue to offer an electronic viewfinder. This means that it will not be a hybrid version, which remains an exclusive tool for people using the flagship X-Pro and X100 series.
There will be changes done to the EVF when compared to the X-T1. It will be bigger than the one of its predecessor, as well as larger than the hybrid one found in the X-Pro2. Additionally, it will be quicker, so users will not notice any of the usual EVF lag.
Improvements compared to the previous generation will be made to the autofocus system and buffer. It is expected that the new device will focus faster than the X-T1, while the buffer will be more spacious, thus offering a quicker continuous shooting mode.
Another certainty consists of the dual card slot. There are no mentions about the supported memory card types, but if the camera comes with 4K video recording, as previously reported
The display on the back is a mystery so far. Some sources say that it might be a touchscreen, while others report that the display will be non-touch. The latter option is in pole position, but there is plenty of time left to make changes to the device.
Fuji might announce this new-gen weathersealed camera sooner than expected
Previously-leaked Fujifilm X-T2 details said that the shooter will be announced before the beginning of Photokina 2016. The event happens in the second part of September, so a lot of people expect to see it in early to mid-September.
However, the new source is claiming that the Japanese company has scheduled the camera’s product launch event for late June or early July.
You will have to take this with a pinch of salt, as the camera has not been mentioned too many times in the rumor mill, while the information about it is still scarce. Regardless of when it is coming, stay tuned for more details!
