Ricoh will allegedly reveal a new Pentax-branded DSLR camera at the CP+ 2017 Show. The company has just registered it in Indonesia and will release it on the market under the KP moniker.
Update on January 26, 2017: Ricoh has officially announced the Pentax KP. More info on here!
K-mount cameras are highly-regarded by the users thanks to several reasons, including the fact that they are really tough. Pentax has recently made the jump to full-frame with the K-1, which is seen as a nice alternative to the Canon and Nikon mass of shooters.
If you are a fan of the manufacturer’s products, then you will be pleased to hear that its parent company, Ricoh, has registered another camera, which will be unveiled soon. It will be called Pentax KP and it is coming at CP+ 2017.
Ricoh poised to reveal Pentax KP DSLR at CP+ 2017 this February
It is a well-known fact that companies must register their products at the regulatory agencies of any given country. This way, they are allowed to sell the devices in these countries. A good thing about this is that the names of cameras tend to appear on the web before the official announcements.
Once again, an unannounced camera has been spotted on Postel’s website, an Indonesian radio certification agency. We have featured many cameras leaked on the agency’s website and the Pentax KP is another one of the bunch.
The naming scheme might seem odd at first, but you must remember that the Pentax K-S series exists, so you should set aside your worries. The device is a DSLR and will likely be a K-mount model compatible with all K-mount lenses.
We do not expect it to be a full-frame camera. The K-1 will not be replaced in the near future, as it has not even had its one-year anniversary at this point. This means that it will be an APS-C DSLR, albeit the megapixel count of the sensor is unknown at this point.
As for the specifications, it is rumored that the Pentax KP will come packed with WiFi technology. Moreover, it might also feature built-in GPS, but this is all based on gossip talks. Other things that can be said about the device is that it will be made in the Philippines.
Getting back to the rumors, sources are stating that the DSLR will be revealed at CP+ 2017. The event will take place between February 23-26 at the Pacifico Yokohama Convention Center in Yokohama, Japan.
We believe that more information will be leaked in the neighboring future, therefore it would be wise to keep an eye on us for them.
